School, a popular 90's high school drama, will have a remake which will be aired in December on KBS. The 2012 version, entitled School 2013, will be produced by Bae Yong-joon (Keyeast/Contents K).
Back in 1999, School featured fresh faces and dealt with different issues teenagers faced during their high school life. The actors who starred on the drama are already big stars of today. The list includes Jang Hyuk, Ha Ji Won, Jo In Sung, Gong Yoo, Lee Dong Wook, Im Soo Jung, Su Ae, Kim Rae Won, Kim Min Hee, Lee Yo Won, Kim Nam Gil, Choi Kang-hee, Bae Doona, Jae Hee..and so on.
Now, a new set of stars will headline the remake. Will they be able to surpass the success of the original drama? Well, let's see.
Among the leads of the students' generation is Lee Jong Seok (Secret Garden). He is Go Nam-soon, an ordinary student by day, and an errand boy by night. He has no big goals for his future aside from graduating.
The cast also includes Kim Woo Bin (A Gentleman's Dignity). He will portray the mysterious transfer student and rebellious Park Heung-soo. He has a conflicting relationship with Lee Jong Seok's character. However, behind his rebellious attitude is the loneliness that he keeps within.
For the teachers' generation, there's Jang Nara. I first saw her in My Love Patzzi. She's one of the first few Korean actresses that I liked. Her character in School 2013 clashes with Daniel Choi's (Ghost) character. Aren't they going to fall for each other as the story progresses? I hope so. After Baby-Faced Beauty, they team-up again for School 2013.
For the female students lineup, Park Se Young, who just finished filming her latest drama Faith, plays as the main lead. She goes from being a queen to a school girl named Song Ha Kyung. She seems to have everything: good grades, good looks, and good family. Despite all those things, she doesn't have a dream to drive her goals.
We also have 5dolls' Ryu Hyo-young, former T-ara member Hwayoung's sister, for the supporting character. She plays the carefree and easygoing Lee Kang Joo. She's a tough tomboy whom you probably don't want to mess up with.
The rest of the cast includes Lee Han-wi (To the Beautiful You, Wild Romance), Park Hae-mi (Smile Dong-hae), Dani (T-ara), Kwak Jung-wook (Shut Up: Flower Boy Band), and more.
To give you a sneak peek on what you need to expect about the drama, here are the teasers that have been released so far:
