Kim Hyun Joong Headlines a Revenge-Action Drama

From one manhwa adaptation to another, Kim Hyun Joong is set to star in a new drama entitled City Conquest (Boys Over Flowers and Playful Kiss are both manhwa adaptations). This revenge-action drama is an adaptation of Shin Hyung-bin's noir manhwa of the same title.

Kim Hyun Joong will play the role of Baek Miru, who was abandoned by his father at a young age, and was set by the latter to the path of vengeance. Kim Seung Woo (IRIS) will portray as Baek Miru's father. Oh, I can sense a pretty much similar City Hunter setup for this drama.

We also have Jung Yumi (Rooftop Prince) as the hero's love interest named Lee Dan-bi. Her job description is a jewelry designer. However, based on the plot, her job has nothing to do with anything in the story. I think it would be better if she's a detective or a cop. You know, something that can either help or create a conflict with our hero. That would be more interesting!

The drama will be shot in Japan and Korea with an estimated budget of 11 billion won. It has already secured a slot on KBS2. Though the airing date is still unconfirmed, City Conquest has already been pre-sold to Japan, China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. The deals have brought the drama a whopping 10 million dollars in sales.
